Grand triptyque florentin du milieu du 19 eme siècle représentant la Vierge et l'Enfant entourés des apôtres et des saints.
D'après le Tabernacle des Linaioli de Fra Angelico.

Le Tabernacle des Linaioli ("faiseurs de lin") est un édicule en marbre conçu par Lorenzo Ghiberti, avec des peintures de Fra Angelico, datant de 1432-1433, aujourd'hui conservé au Musée national de San Marco, à Florence.
Au centre, dans une ouverture voûtée, se trouve le panneau de Fra Angelico représentant le Maest avec douze anges musiciens.
Le Maest est flanqué de draperies, au-dessus desquelles se trouve un plafond peint en bleu avec des étoiles et la colombe du Saint-Esprit.
Deux panneaux de volets portent d'autres peintures de saints : à l'intérieur, saint Jean-Baptiste et saint Jean l'Évangéliste ; à l'extérieur, saint Marc et saint Pierre (à droite).
Sur l'original, une prédelle située sous le Maest porte trois scènes de la vie de saint Marc, mais celles-ci n'apparaissent pas dans notre réplique.

  • Literature: A 19th c. replica of Fra Angelico's Linaioli Tabernacle, a triptych depicting the Virgin & Child surrounded by Apostles and Saints H:170 x W:158 The Tabernacle of the Linaioli ("Linemakers") is a marble aedicula designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti, with paintings by Fra Angelico, dating to 1432-1433, now housed in the National Museum of San Marco, Florence. In the centre, within an arched opening, is Fra Angelico's panel of the Maestà with twelve musician angels. The Maestà is flanked by draperies, above is a blue painted ceiling with stars and the dove of the Holy Spirit. Two shutter panels bear further paintings of saints: inside, St. John the Baptist & St. John the Evangelist; outside, St. Mark and St. Peter (right). On the original, a predella < below the Maestà > carries three scenes from the life of St. Mark, but these do not appear in our replica.
